Mark Porter began surveying just after he graduated from Lakeland Senior High School and joined Bill Reed and Associates until he joined the U.S. Navy.  Mark joined the Navy in 1967 as a Shipserviceman and served abored the U.S.S. Bigalow out of Mayport, FL. After 2 years of Active Duty, Mark, decided to join the U.S. Navy Reserves based out of Tampa, FL on the U.S.S. Albany, a guided missle cruiser and went to work for Haven Land Surveys in Winter Haven, FL.  After 2 years, Mark, looking for a change, applied and was offered a job at Lakeland Engineering Company (now Chastain-Skillman) where he rose to the ranks of Senior Vice President and Partner.  In 1994, Mark, branched out on his own to start his own surveying business Porter Geographical Positioning and Surveying. Mark enjoys boating, auto racing and Gator Football in his spare time.
